Get to know Laurie!

Hello, my name is Laurie Stephen. I was born and raised in Prince George B.C. and continue to be blessed living in, always friendly Prince George, Beautiful British Columbia. I grew up as the farmers grand daughter and raised on a hobby farm with a loving family of five.

A Little History

I married Brad Stephen in 1994 while in our early 20’s and began our family in March of 1996. We completed our precious family having our son in 1996 and our daughter in 1999.

Before our son was a year old, we were thrust into the world of allergies, not just allergies but anaphylaxis. Dealing with hay fever was nothing like the roller-coaster ride of navigating life-threatening allergies.

Little did I know that something so overwhelming would be the beginning of my passion for health and wellness. This new love led me to practicing kinesionics, where I became certified in 2003. The premiss of kinesionics is muscle testing. The mind-blowing connection with understanding the language of listening to one’s body through muscle testing gave me a major hand in the knowledge of listening to the body in a way I had never heard of. This knowledge kept us out of the emergency room.

Meanwhile in 2005 the mother bear in me needed to keep my children safe from allergens in the school system. While volunteering and parenting I started to work in the school system as I continued my education to become a certified Educational Assistant. My first seven years were primarily at a high school near our home, where I worked with special needs children. The next ten years, I worked in a high school in town. Seven of those years, I was in a Montessori program with a second-to-none teacher. With her understanding and support, I began practicing reflexology. This is when I met Chris Shirley. We were in our first class where a lady could not sit comfortably on a chair; she had had a sore hip for years. Chris had her lay in a gravity chair worked his reflexology. I was hooked.

The health within our household changed, challenging me to navigate mental health and chronic pain at home. The headaches and mental health were very abundant in the schools as well. The support for pain through the medical system seemed to me nothing but a pile of pills with side affects. This is the flint that got me interested in reflexology. I started my business: Toe-Tal-Heal Reflexology and Kinesionics, in 2022 and retired from the school district in that same year. I have had the opportunity to increase my family and friends’ quality of life, so I joined RAC (Reflexology Association of Canada) in 2022 and RABC (Reflexology Association of British Columbia) in 2025, in my desire to help others on a larger scale. I moved in two directions. I was welcomed with open arms into a beautiful boutique in town for the convenience and now have a business location at Injoy Studio and Boutique. I am empowered to share my knowledge with others, to support our bodies, and release physical and emotional stresses through teaching under the direction of Chris Shirley.

I live my life as a pleaser and nothing makes me happier than supporting others’ mental and physical well-being.

I like to play. I enjoy hiking, biking, snowshoeing, kayaking, shoveling snow, and working in groups to make a larger impact. I enjoy pets as well as crafts, pottery, and creating.
